Silhouette family
The design of ‘Silhouette family’ came from the exploration of the duality between visibility/ invisibility and emotion/ practicality. This work originated from the collaboration with the craftsman Martin Bereuter and his vision that “The ability of the craftsmanship is to be able to make the craft itself invisible”. From the side, the design looks like a simple silhouette and only when you face it, does it show its materiality and purpose as a chair. Besides its practicality, the object is designed to have an emotional component. The rocking chair can bring to the user a feeling of protection, calmness and family. This concept is incorporated in the ‘Silhouette family' not only because of its usability as a rocking chair but also in its design as a family of intertwined pieces. The set includes three different sizes, small, medium and large, which can be shared amongst family and friends but also fit into one object.
